The Village of Palos Park Council on Monday approved a bundle of routine and contract items, including a road-repair contract, a parks sanitation contract and authorization of local matching funds to buy an outdoor fitness court.
The council voted unanimously to award the village’s 2025 motor fuel tax (MFT) road improvement project to Lindell Brothers for $819,389.50 after receiving five bids, Commissioner Patan said. Patan described Lindell Brothers as the low responsible bidder with prior work in the village and moved to award the contract; the motion passed by roll call.
Also on the consent and contract agenda, the council approved a quotation from Service Sanitation of Gary, Indiana to provide portable restroom equipment for Village Green Park, Centennial Park and the village’s special events. Commissioner Patan said four proposals were received; staff recommended Service Sanitation as the lowest-price proposer and estimated the annual cost at $6,005.50, which staff said is included in the FY2026 budget.
The council unanimously approved an ordinance (2025-16) granting setback variances for a proposed 20-by-20 sunroom addition at 12618 South Pawnee Road. Commissioner Wade said the Zoning Board of Appeals held a public hearing on Aug. 13 and recommended approval 6–0 before the council vote.
Commissioner Patan also updated the council on the National Fitness Campaign (NFC) grant that will provide $60,000 toward an outdoor fitness court. The village is responsible for a $110,000 local match and installation costs. Patan reported Northwestern Medicine at Palos Hospital has pledged $50,000, the village budgeted $50,000 in FY2026, and several local donors (Republic Bank $5,000; three $2,500 donations listed) bring the confirmed local support above $110,000. The council approved the $110,000 match and authorized purchase of the fitness court equipment, which staff said completes NFC milestone number two.
Other routine actions included approval of the minutes of the Aug. 11 meeting and payment of invoices on the warrant list dated Aug. 25 totaling $395,397.57.
All motions described above passed on roll-call votes with the council recording unanimous affirmative responses on each item.
The council also heard department reports and announcements about fall recreation programs, the village’s Autumn in the Park parade on Sept. 20 and back-to-school safety reminders. The meeting adjourned after no members of the public came forward during the public-comment period.
