Public commenters accuse provider and board; TBVME approves multiple agreed orders and dismissals

Two public commenters used the board’s public-comment period to press for additional action on disciplinary matters, and the board voted on a set of case actions later in the meeting.

Virtual commenter Suzanne Blakely told the board she was speaking about “my complaint against Ren Johnson of Dogwood Animal Hospital,” saying the case was "up for dismissal" and alleging that the standard of care given to her pet Sophie was inadequate: “No antibiotics were given. No fluids. No pain medicine.” She said Sophie was comatose at transfer and died the following day and asked the board to “Please reconsider and take another look.”

In-person commenter Anita Ross criticized the board’s investigative processes and open-records handling, alleging that investigators’ findings were ignored in at least one matter and naming providers she said failed to cooperate with investigators.

After staff reports and an executive-session review under Texas Government Code §551.071, the board voted on multiple items. The board approved a series of agreed orders, approved staff-conference dismissals and approved several cases recommended for dismissal from medical review. The chair announced the board had returned from executive session and stated that no action had been taken during the executive session; subsequent public motions to approve the listed agreed orders and dismissals carried.

A board member asked to pull one case referenced in public comment for further consideration; staff noted that the pulled cases and related communications were included in meeting materials. The board did not announce specific disciplinary outcomes for the case raised by Suzanne Blakely during the public-comment portion; case identifiers and next steps were discussed in the closed portions and subsequent public motions.
