Council approves substitute to send annotated environmental-court dockets to council members

Unidentified Speaker 4, who sponsored the substitute, said the revised language directs Metro Legal to provide council members with a weekly, annotated docket showing each case bound for environmental court, the filing date, any orders and the listed violations so members can identify matters in their districts. Brooke Heveder of Metro Legal told the meeting: “We are gonna be sending what we get from the court to you all, but it'll be an annotated version…you will get a list of every case…you'll see zoning cases…short term rental cases…we'll have notes on here with what's gone on…when was the case filed? Do we have orders? The date of all of that, and then what are the violations?” Heveder said the list will be provided on a weekly cadence and include notes about repeat violators.
Following discussion on how the list will function and what it will include, a motion to add the substitute was moved and seconded; the substitute was approved 8-0, and the ordinance as substituted then passed 8-0 with a recommendation for approval.
