The Oakwood Board of Education approved a package of personnel items at its Sept. 8 meeting, including amended retirement dates, resignations and multiple employment recommendations.
At the start of the meeting Superintendent introduced Tyler Jacobs to the board and audience as a candidate and new physical education teacher at Smith Elementary. "It's been a great transition to Oakwood," Jacobs said, describing 16 years of teaching experience and his family's support.
Under personnel motions, the board approved items 8a–8d (amending Jay Lane’s retirement date to 05/31/2025; accepting Kathy McCready’s retirement effective 06/30/2026; accepting Abigail Bridal’s resignation as district nurse effective 09/05/2025; and accepting supplemental resignations) and then approved items 9a–9k as presented. Item 9c specifically recommended the employment of Tyler Jacobs as the PE teacher at Smith Elementary at bachelor's step 9 for the 2025–26 school year; that package was approved by recorded 'Aye' votes.
Other personnel actions included amended hourly rates, hiring Shannon Mackey as district nurse (bachelor's step 12, effective 09/08/2025), extended-time pay approvals, unpaid leave for Rachel Stern (Oct. 16–Nov. 5), supplemental contract adjustments and approval of substitutes pending required documents.
Provenance: Tyler Jacobs' introduction appears at SEG 059–SEG 094; the grouped personnel items and votes appear at SEG 621–SEG 714.
