At the Aug. 19 meeting the city administrator (Miss Powell) updated the council on recent closings and operational items. The city completed purchase of the west portion of 433 E. First Street to create a trailhead connection and possible bike station and plaza tied to downtown access. Powell said the city also closed on the sale of the old public works site, part of the downtown redevelopment project with Urban Waters.
Powell reported that Papillion Landing Pool completed annual cleaning and maintenance and has reopened; Papio Bay remains closed for the season. She thanked the Sarpy YMCA for coordinating pool availability while the landing pool was down for maintenance.
On intergovernmental items, Powell said the Mutual Fire Organization (MFO) recommended moving forward with equipment purchases consistent with a vehicle replacement plan and recommended reimbursing La Vista for its share (50%) of a new roof and HVAC for Station 4; the MFO share for the two projects was listed at $172,500. Because each project exceeds $50,000, Powell said the city will present a resolution to council in September consistent with the MFO agreement’s requirement to send expenditures over $50,000 to the governing bodies.
Powell also reminded residents the library master plan survey closes Aug. 22 and listed committee meeting dates related to the master fee schedule and facilities.
