Francis Howell reports modest MAP and AP gains, graduation rate near 97%

Academic Officer Glenn Hancock presented the district's 2024–25 academic results to the board on Sept. 18, highlighting small but measurable gains across several state assessments and strong AP participation.
Hancock said the district's percentage of students scoring proficient or advanced rose slightly in English language arts, math and science compared with 2023–24, and that many grade levels improved year over year. "We had the highest percentage of students scoring proficient and advanced in the last five years in math," he said.
The district also recorded its highest-ever volume of Advanced Placement testing with more than 2,200 exams taken by roughly 1,100 students; about 83% of exams earned a score of 3 or better, which typically qualifies for college credit. Hancock said the district will continue to expand postsecondary readiness measures, offer additional assessment opportunities and enhance Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and curriculum adoptions to drive growth toward strategic-plan KPI targets.
On graduation, the district reported a five-year graduation rate of about 96.8%. Board members asked about benchmark frequency, longitudinal growth tracking and the role of interventions; administrators said the district uses benchmark tools and data platforms (for example, EduCLIMBER) to analyze growth and that work will continue this year.
