Council member Harreld said roughly "90% of this the cost of this is, outside money, 10%, about $50,000 from the $40.29 fund," signaling a relatively small local match for the safety upgrade. Another member shared a resident’s unsolicited positive reaction to an earlier beacon installation, saying it helped parents take children across safely.
The ordinance was advanced under suspension of rules, the emergency clause was adopted, and a roll-call vote confirmed adoption. The city will proceed with the LPA agreement, qualifications requests and advertising for bids as described in the ordinance.
