Lewis County approves Camp Dix fire department contract modification and $82,000 CDBG budget amendment

Lewis County Fiscal Court on Sept. 8 approved a contract modification for the Camp Dix Volunteer Fire Department and enacted Ordinance 25-04 to amend the FY25–26 budget to include $82,000 in CDBG funding for the project.
The presiding official said Buffalo Trace Area Development provided additional funds to help close a funding gap on the Camp Dix project. Sierra of Buffalo Trace told the court, “it was amended because we needed additional funds in order to cover our bid overage.” The ordinance text presented to the court specified $82,000 in unbudgeted receipts and appropriations for the CDBG Camp Dix fund.
Commissioners moved and seconded the measures and carried both votes on roll call. During discussion several members expressed appreciation to Buffalo Trace Area Development for securing the extra funds to complete the project.
Court materials show the Camp Dix contract modification was included in the commissioners’ packet and the ordinance amends the budget to increase revenue and appropriations by $82,000 for the CDBG Camp Dix fund. Buffalo Trace representatives said they would follow up on technical questions about related documents or templates.
The court’s approval clears the way for the Camp Dix work to proceed with the additional funding; county staff indicated a second reading had been filed for the budget amendment process consistent with local procedure.
