Rutherford board approves 19 personnel items; accepts one retirement

Mrs. Cole moved and the Rutherford Board of Education on Dec. 2 approved 19 personnel motions recommended by the superintendent, covering a mix of routine and responsive staffing actions.
The approved items included salary‑level changes, start‑date adjustments for a lunch monitor and a part‑time bus assistant, approval of a home instructor, payback of listed sick and vacation days, temporary and substitute hires, increased hourly wages for lunch monitors, approvals for nurses and a counselor for the Bulldog Care program, field experience placements, and travel reimbursements. The board also approved a long‑term substitute elementary teacher.
Item No. 18 accepted with regret the retirement of Doreen Salter (listed on the agenda) effective March 1, 2025. The board took a roll‑call vote on the personnel block; the motion carried. One member noted an abstention on one subitem during the roll call, which was recorded in the meeting minutes.
Board members thanked staff and administrators involved in recruitment and transitions and noted appreciation for the outgoing employee.
