Taylor ISD trustees heard a final update on the districts 2022 bond program, with project leads saying most school upgrades are finished and about $7,700,000 remains uncommitted as the district closes out contracts.
Moss, who presented the bond summary, listed campus improvements completed or underway: secure entry vestibules and interior modernizations at T.H. Johnson, Pausman and Main Street elementaries; new drop-off drives and canopies; upgraded fencing and playgrounds; new HVAC units and skylight replacements; and a multi-lab expansion at the high schools career and technical education (CTE) center, including electronics, welding and automotive shops. Support operations were consolidated with renovated warehouse and vehicle-service areas, and the district updated PA systems and signage.
Moss said the bonds original construction budget was $82,470,000 and that the district earned a little over $4,500,000 in interest during the bonds life. After interest and project savings, he reported about $7,700,000 remained uncommitted; final reconciliation will follow as contractors submit final payouts and any last change orders are processed.
Trustees praised project control, contractors and campus leaders for delivering work on scope and for keeping taxpayers informed. Board members asked practical questions about completed items and acknowledged additional small projects completed outside the bond carryover, such as library renovations and event-center parking and lighting improvements.
The board did not take separate formal action on the bond report during the meeting; presenters said finance staff and the design team will continue reconciliation and return final numbers when available.
