Taylor ISD outlines scorecard for student outcomes, security and CTE expansion

District leaders briefed trustees on Priority 1 of the strategic scorecard—focused on excellence in student outcomes—and outlined measures the district will use to track progress.

The presentation highlighted safety and well-being actions: the contracted Triumph security team’s interactions with students, three state door audits that the district said it has passed, and required monthly safety drills. Staff said the district is developing a peer-support assistant program in the early/basic phase, funded in part by a stronger-connections grant and supported by Community In Schools implementation.

On engagement, staff described plans to develop trackers that record student participation in extracurriculars from elementary through high school (classroom jobs, student council, choir, robotics), with the goal of setting baseline data this year and targets for growth. Trustees mentioned examples such as robotics at Legacy and a proposed EA-sports opportunity at the high school that would be supported by an engineer volunteer.

For college and career readiness (1.4), an assistant reported two linked strategies: 1.4a exposing students to postsecondary opportunities (career fairs, job inventories, virtual reality field trips) and 1.4b increasing enrollment and completion in CTE and advanced academic pathways. The district uses the CCMR score to quantify progress and said it has seen consistent gains.

Trustees asked clarifying questions and staff said they would share collected survey data from students, staff and parents to inform next steps and action plans.
