Pigeon Creek interlocal advances; drainage board approves Polyram drainage plan and retroactive ditch claims

County officials and the drainage board took several actions to support the newly formed Pigeon Creek Watershed Development Commission and address drainage matters on Dec. 17.
The board approved an interlocal agreement that allows the county to advance appropriated funds (county council had previously appropriated about $65,000 for application and consultant tasks, of which roughly $15,000 had been spent) to support the commission until its own revenues are received. County staff emphasized the commission is a separate legal entity and the agreement provides a mechanism for repayment when funds become available.
At the separate Drainage Board meeting, members approved a final drainage plan for a building expansion by Polyram Compounds at 15015 Foundation Avenue in the Vanderburgh Industrial Park, subject to conditions: obtain jurisdictional stream relocation approvals from applicable agencies, bring the existing dry basin up to current standards, record easement descriptions and allow monitoring by the surveyor and county engineer; failure to meet conditions will void the approval.
The drainage board also retroactively approved 13 ditch claims submitted since the last meeting totaling $6,335.11 for previously approved 2024 contract work. Officials announced the Pigeon Creek Watershed Development Commission will meet Dec. 19, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the Emmonsville Public Library Stringtown Branch.
