Drainage Board approves final plan for Crosspointe Eco Preserve parcel and retroactive ditch claims

The Vanderburgh County Drainage Board on Nov. 19 approved the final drainage plan for Parcel 1 of Crosspointe Eco Preserve, a submission by SJP LLC (St. Joe Industrial Park), with conditions requiring floodway staking before dirt work and no basin outlet pipe construction until IDNR or U.S. Army Corps of Engineers comments are received.
Drainage staff (Linda) told the board the plan substantially met code and recommended approval with the conditions that floodway limits be staked and checked and that any basin outlet work wait for permitting decisions; the board approved the plan on a motion. Project engineer Jim Morley Jr. said the applicant has hired an environmental consultant to perform a stream delineation to confirm jurisdictional status and estimated that necessary permitting could take a couple of months. Morley added the developer is building a lake in advance to use for geothermal cooling loops on adjacent property.
The board also approved retroactive payment of five ditch claims submitted since the Nov. 12 meeting totaling $5,971.80 for previously contracted work, and staff announced Pigeon Creek Watershed Development Commission meetings scheduled Nov. 21 and Dec. 19 at the Evansville Public Library Stringtown branch, with quarterly 2025 meetings planned.
Next steps: staff will confirm permit comments from IDNR/USACE as needed, and the board will receive follow-up on any required drainage-plan revisions or permit conditions.
