Sheriff Noah Robinson appeared before the commission to present a finalized agreement with Tri‑State Towing for towing and storage of disabled, abandoned, wrecked and impounded vehicles. Robinson said the contract “enshrines … a motorist’s bill of rights” by specifying the fee structure so motorists and insurers know in advance what a tow will cost.
Robinson told commissioners the contract makes clear what vendors can charge for incidents such as large fluid spills, overturns or severely damaged vehicles, and said the level of specificity in the document would prevent motorists from being billed for services not provided. He also said a motorist may choose a different wrecker at their discretion, and that the contract requires an alternate wrecker to be on scene within 15 minutes for the county to allow that choice and quickly reopen roadways.
Commissioners moved and approved the towing and storage agreement as presented. Robinson answered questions about the vendor selection and enforcement, and thanked the board after the vote.
