Teachers and volunteers press Twin Rivers on custodial staffing and school-site council compliance

During oral communications and the public comment period, two community members raised operational concerns for the district.
Tara Jacobs told trustees that some school-site councils and DLAC meetings remain out of compliance with required postings, that agendas and minutes must be posted promptly and accurately, and that principals should use the district links so volunteers and community members can review minutes and provide support. "The same sites are still out of compliance," Jacobs said, and urged continued monitoring and support from the district.
Froggy Nixon, a sixth-grade teacher at the new Northlake TK-8, described what she called an acute shortage of custodial staffing at that site. Nixon said the campus (nearly 400 students) is being run with insufficient custodial support, that the district's formula for hiring and scheduling custodians "is not working," and that Northlake's daytime custodian is stretched thin across a 17-acre campus without tools such as a golf cart to traverse the site. Nixon said the school has lost at least six classified-staff positions in the first trimester and urged Twin Rivers to invest in salaries, better benefits, training and reasonable workload expectations to retain classified staff.
Board members thanked the commenters and made notes to follow up; staff did not announce an immediate operational remedy at the meeting but the comments were recorded for follow-up.
