Administrators updated the board on two facility projects: a proposed agricultural (ag) building to serve the high school’s agriculture program, and the standalone pre-K center funded by the bond project. Mr. Betts described a phased ag facility—prioritizing livestock space first—sited on the northeast side of campus; he said a full-build estimate was "a little under $4,000,000," that scheduling and student movement would require creative solutions, and that a small shuttle bus could be used to transport students.
On the pre-K project, the administration presented renderings and a floor plan. The project’s budget was originally $25,000,000; administration reported a current estimate of $23,110,722, which it described as about $1.9 million under budget. The floor plan includes a separate developmental pre-K wing, an indoor multi-use space that doubles as a cafeteria and recreation area when weather precludes outdoor recess, and a central playground area. Mr. Betts said demolition was pending one permit for a contractor (Casey Bertram Group) and that collaboration with Schmidt Architects and city partners is ongoing.
Administrators also noted potential benefits of the ag building site for athletic events—electric service could be run to the cross-country start/finish area—and discussed future restroom facilities and parking considerations. Board members asked logistical questions about student transit between buildings and expansion options if enrollment grows; administration said the current under-budget estimate might allow adding one or two more classes.
Administration recommended continued fundraising with the FFA alumni and refining phasing and design with Schmidt Architects as the district prepares to move toward procurement.
