East Dundee board continues hearing on proposed 178‑acre annexation to Jan. 13

President Lynam opened a public hearing Dec. 16 on a petition from Chicago Title Land Trust (trust agreement dated 04/15/1969, trust no. 11‑0398) to annex roughly 178.41 acres on the south side of Illinois Route 72 and rezone it to M‑1 (limited manufacturing). The proposed zoning would permit a range of industrial uses including contractor yards, repair shops, storage of construction materials, truck and trailer parking, mineral extraction and a possible data center.
The village indicated there were last‑minute changes to the proposed annexation agreement and attachments that would be communicated before the hearing closed. Board members expressed that the public should have access to the full amended materials before any final action. After a motion to continue the hearing, the board voted to keep the hearing open and reconvene the matter at the board's next regular meeting on Jan. 13, 2025.
No public comments on the annexation were recorded at the Dec. 16 meeting. The continuation means the board will receive additional information and public notice before making any decision on annexation or rezoning. The board did not take a final vote on annexation on Dec. 16.
