Tidwell said the team used a quarter-mile filter around schools to prioritize walkability but acknowledged the radius could be widened if council preferred.
Council members pressed for clarity about how the dashboard determines red/orange/green severity and urged staff to pair the data with boots-on-the-ground verification. Several councillors emphasized filling missing sidewalk gaps and high-safety locations (for example, from the Longhorn/7-Eleven corridor to Old Decatur) over an attempt to fix every minor defect citywide. Staff said prior funding and CDBG allocations have been used to target projects and that they will present a prioritized list to the bond committee for consideration.
