William Penn SD staff preview draft strategic plan, schedules Jan. 13 community session

District staff provided an update on the development of a draft strategic plan and said it will solicit broader community feedback at a Jan. 13 roundtable.
The presenter described work to refine the district's mission and to consolidate 11 shared values into three categories the district is calling the "three C's": humanity, commitment and collaboration. Two alternative concise mission statements were shown as examples to guide discussion, and staff said the graduate (postgraduate) portion of the plan is being finalized with the superintendents advisory council and senior staff.
Staff said a community roundtable will be held on Jan. 13 at 6 p.m. at the middle school to invite community members and local stakeholders to review draft overarching goals; the board will receive an update at its January meeting with a draft timeline.
When asked whether Delaware County Community College had been engaged in the current planning process, the presenter said the district had reached out and requested representation but had not yet received a response.
The board thanked Dr. Plumb for participating in the process as a strategic planning community adviser. No formal vote or policy adoption related to the strategic plan occurred at the meeting; staff described the materials as draft and iterative and scheduled further public engagement.
