The Bicycle & Pedestrian Committee asked members to survey the southern east–west corridors of the village (notably Hanson, Parkview, Glory and Main) for practical improvements while the full bike-and-ped master-plan update is prepared in early 2025.
Tracy explained Main Avenue is unlikely to be considered before 2027–28, so the request focused on near-term, southern corridor enhancements that could improve connectivity to De Pere and make east–west movement easier for bicyclists and pedestrians. Members suggested riding, driving and walking the corridors to identify low-cost fixes, missing sidewalk segments, and design issues such as bumpy railroad crossings and debris in bike lanes.
Staff recommended the committee fold corridor priorities into the pending master-plan update and the accompanying project-prioritization spreadsheet that will guide grant eligibility and capital planning. The consultant-led plan update is expected to start in early 2025; staff noted consultant Cole Runyon will begin initial work and that plan work is a full rewrite of the 2009 plan.
Next steps: committee members will review the identified corridors and staff will incorporate any high-priority items into the master-plan update process and project prioritization spreadsheet for future capital programming.
