The Dalles City Council on Dec. 16 adopted Special Ordinance No. 24-605 to accept real-property dedications on West Sixth Street needed to widen the road between Snipe and Hostetler streets.
Deputy Public Works Director Hansen said the city has negotiated frontage-dedication exchanges with multiple property owners and that final coordination continued up to the meeting time. A preliminary title report delivered shortly before the meeting identified additional owners; staff recommended minor modifications to the ordinance and associated documents to replace references to Sandra Dean with Bested LLC (a Washington limited-liability company) and to add Hans and Donna Winterlik, who staff said hold interests in the property. Hansen said property owners have tentatively agreed to dedicate portions of land in exchange for frontage improvements benefiting their remaining parcels.
Councilor Long moved to adopt the special ordinance as amended by title only with the changes described by the city attorney; Councilor Randall seconded and the motion carried. The ordinance was read by title only on the record.
Next steps: staff will complete the legal descriptions and record the dedications so right-of-way work can proceed in coordination with the Sixth Street widening contract and construction schedule.
