Council approves one-year extension with San Am Water Control District

The Stayton City Council voted 5-0 to approve Resolution No. 1123, authorizing a one-year extension of the city’s contract with the San Am Water Control District under the same terms as the prior extension plus an adjustment for the consumer price index.
City staff said the extension gives both parties additional time to negotiate a more comprehensive agreement that could include water delivery, stormwater management, sanitary sewer and potentially components tied to local parks or facilities. Staff recommended approval to keep existing operations in place while negotiations continue.
Councilor Ward moved to adopt the resolution and it was seconded; no public comment was offered on the contract extension and the motion passed unanimously.
Next steps: staff will continue interagency negotiations and return with a draft comprehensive agreement for council review.
