The Webster Groves Architectural Review Board asked the homeowner of 337 Dobbin Road to return with revised drawings after members concluded the submitted plans contained multiple inconsistencies that made formal review impossible. Board members said the plans lacked accurate existing-condition photos, showed windows in the wrong positions and sizes, and did not include clear material callouts for columns, siding and roof materials.
"We need the existing conditions depicted correctly," a board member said during the meeting, noting that some sheets labeled "demolition" did not actually show demolition and that elevations and sections showed different column and porch treatments. Homeowner Aaron Parton told the board he intends to keep several existing windows and to move the kitchen, but he acknowledged the application had drafting oversights and said he would work with his drafter and builder to correct them.
Board members flagged an apparent stone wainscot shown around the perimeter of the proposed elevations and asked whether that was intentional or a drafting error. The board emphasized that construction and permit reviewers rely on the drawings to know what was approved and to check that the finished work matches the approved plans; incomplete or inconsistent drawings can lead to confusion during permitting and construction.
The board advised the applicant to return with a single, coherent set of drawings that clearly labels existing elements that will remain, shows proposed removals, provides material callouts and includes existing-condition photographs. The chair confirmed staff could work with the applicant to reschedule the item once the materials are corrected.
