Gautier recognizes youth football champions; council issues holiday thanks

The Gautier City Council began its Dec. 17 meeting by recognizing the Gautier Gators 11–12 youth football team for winning the 2024 Mississippi Gulf Coast Youth Football League Super Bowl championship. The mayor and council called coaches and players forward to receive rings, trophies and certificates and urged the audience to applaud the undefeated team.
During the study agenda, residents raised local concerns: one asked whether the Martin Bluff project would include sidewalks on both sides of the street; staff replied sidewalks are planned only on the north side and that remaining connections will tie into existing pedestrian facilities when subcontractor work and inspections are complete. Another resident, Josh Ward, publicly thanked city staff and first responders, saying, "Y'all done a great job this year."
Council members used their time for holiday messages, thanked staff and partners and encouraged citizens to attend a Dec. 23 event at the Sound Amphitheater. The mayor recognized multiple local partners and invited residents to support city events and staff through the holiday season.
