The Cleveland County Board of Commissioners voted to approve a $2,850 small‑business incentive grant for SR3, LLC, which does business as Broad River Campground, during its Dec. 2, 2024 regular meeting.
Tax assessor Sherry Lavender told the board that the application originated with the 2023 grant year and had been delayed while an audit and appeal were resolved. Under the county’s small business incentive program as described by staff, a qualifying net new investment between $50,000 and $1 million is eligible for a grant equal to 50% of the taxes paid on the new taxable amount. Lavender said the applicant met the investment requirement, had paid required taxes and that no unresolved appeals remained; staff recommended approval of $2,850.
After the public hearing was opened and no members of the public signed up to speak, a commissioner moved to approve the staff recommendation; the motion was seconded and carried unanimously. The board’s approval finalizes the county staff recommendation to award $2,850 to SR3/Broad River Campground.
The board packet and staff presentation listed the qualifying investment amount and the program formula for grant calculation; the county did not provide additional documentation in the meeting transcript showing the exact taxable amount used to compute the $2,850 award.
