Partial DeJoria event-center closure noted; board flags potential local job impacts

City-affiliated participants told the Economic Development Advisory Board that the DeJoria property is closing parts of its operation, including the event center, restaurants and a country store, while potential buyers continue due diligence.
"This section of DeJoria is just the event center. It's not the entire thing," a city representative said, adding that the owners had never intended some portions to be profit-generating and that the sale has not been finalized. The representative said new owners "haven't fully committed, so that left the current owners nothing left to do other than close."
Board members estimated the combined employment affected by the closures would likely be under 30 people. Members said they would monitor the sale process and employee impacts but did not direct county action at the Nov. 21 meeting.
The board also noted that decisions about homeowners' association use of amenities like the pool may be governed by the HOA rather than county action.
