Summit County says state awarded $200,000 for water-system work; staff to finish internal steps

The Economic Development Advisory Board heard on Nov. 21 that the state has awarded Summit County $200,000 for water-system work and that the contract is fully executed and the funds are already in the county's account.
"They have awarded us the 200,000," Jeff said, adding that "we actually have the funds in house for that 200,000." Board members said staff are finishing internal paperwork and expect the county to finalize internal applications next week.
Jeff also noted the state opened a portal for related grants and suggested the county could "piggyback" the rural county broadband effort with the state grant process to streamline work.
The board did not vote on a specific spending plan at the meeting. Members said they will continue internal processing and bring a recommendation forward when staff can identify eligible projects and amounts. No specific project-level awards or timelines were adopted at the Nov. 21 meeting.
