Chief Sirin delivered a concise operations report Sept. 2: he described a Monday morning hit-and-run in which a 64-year-old pedestrian on Gavin Street lost part of his leg after being sideswiped by an Acura. SFPD—s Ingleside units located the vehicle at 300 Allemani, detained and later arrested a suspect.
Chief Sirin also announced the department—s forensic lab received ISO 17025 international accreditation and reported significant case-processing improvements: the lab reduced historic backlogs and shortened complex analysis turnaround times from roughly nine months to about nine weeks. He said the lab plans to add equipment and staff to maintain improvements.
The Chief noted 25 lieutenant promotions have been completed with sergeant promotions to follow, and referenced upcoming training and external auditing and instruction planned for September. Commissioners did not ask follow-up questions and the report concluded.
The announcements were presented as informational reports; no Commission action was taken at the Sept. 2 meeting.
