SFPUC awards $14 million design contract for Southeast Plant headworks to Corolla Engineers

The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission voted to award Agreement CS389 to Corolla Engineers for an amount not to exceed $14,000,000 over six years to plan and design a new headworks facility for the Southeast Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Karen Kubik, Director of the System Improvement Program, explained the headworks facility is needed to upgrade grit/solids removal and provide odor control and that the work is part of Phase 1 projects previously endorsed by the commission. She said the headworks must be in place prior to the completion of the biosolids facility because of process dependencies related to grit removal.
Commissioners moved and seconded the contract award; staff called for public comment, none was offered, and the motion carried by voice vote.
Next steps: staff will execute Agreement CS389 with Corolla Engineers and proceed with planning and design activities for the Southeast Plant headworks as part of the SFPUC capital program.
