SFPD: two homicides this week, missing-person case highlighted; police ask public for tips

The San Francisco Police Department reported two homicides this week and asked the public for assistance with a related missing‑person investigation, the department told the Police Commission on Nov. 6.
In the chief’s report the department said one homicide occurred early Tuesday morning in the Bayview District and appeared to involve a blunt object, and a second happened at about 4:50 a.m. at Third and Bryant when a vehicle was fired upon. Officers responding to the latter scene found one victim struck by gunfire; several occupants fled and one passenger on scene has been uncooperative, the chief said.
The chief also described a missing‑person case involving a Brazilian national named Paulo/Paul/Paolo Neto (reported as having arrived Oct. 25 and last heard from Oct. 28). Police posted an image of a person believed to have used the missing person’s credit card and asked the public to call tips to 575‑4444. “If anybody knows where Paolo Neto is … that would be appreciated,” the chief said.
Separately, the department reported a significant robbery arrest in the Richmond District after a surveillance operation and recovered a handgun, and said investigators were working multiple linked robbery cases across districts.
The chief concluded by describing community engagement efforts, including scholarships awarded in Bayview in cooperation with the Bayview Rotary, and urged anyone with information about the homicide or missing‑person cases to contact investigators.
No formal votes were taken on the report. The commission thanked the chief and offered no additional direction in open session before moving to other agenda items.
