SFPD reports multiple stabbings, successful Outside Lands policing and a record ecstasy seizure

The chief said officers responded to a multi'victim stabbing in the Mission and to a separate stabbing at Golden Gate and Hyde; some suspects were arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon, and the victims' injuries were reported as non'life'threatening. The chief credited district stations and medical partners for successful responses.
He also reported that the Outside Lands music festival drew about 195,000 people over the weekend and that department operations there were "largely successful," with relatively few major arrests and medical staff treating attendees in sobering tents.
In a narcotics case at 20 Ninth and Mission, officers found roughly 23 kilograms of powder and 30,000 pills of suspected MDMA (described in the meeting as more than 50 pounds of powder and 30,000 pills) and seized approximately $30,000 in currency. "We believe that this is the largest ecstasy seizure in the history of the San Francisco Police Department," the chief said. The department indicated it will offer the case to the U.S. Attorney's Office for potential federal prosecution.
The chief also highlighted summer youth engagement: the department employed and engaged several hundred young people in summer programs and coordinated community events including backpack giveaways and a successful gun buyback that recovered about 156 firearms.
