SFPUC moves Bay Division pipeline seismic upgrades into construction, approves consultant agreement

The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission approved two related items on June 12 to advance a critical seismic project on the Bay Division pipeline.
Item 10 authorized staff to negotiate and execute a professional services agreement for EPC consultants for the Bay Division pipeline No. 3 and 4 Hayward Fault seismic upgrade for an amount not to exceed $8.5 million and a term of three years and four months. Item 11 approved plans and specifications and awarded construction contract WD2629 for the seismic upgrade at the Hayward Fault in the amount of $31,320,000 to the lowest qualified, responsible bidder, Steve P. Rados Incorporated.
Julie Labonte, presenting the items, called it “a great project milestone for us to move one of our most critical seismic projects into construction” and noted the winning bid was roughly $23 million under the baseline budget. Commissioners moved and approved both items by voice vote.
