The commission approved a motion authorizing the SFPUC general manager (as designee) to waive security-deposit increases for certain existing leases and permits with annual rents of $5,000 or less and to amend those agreements to provide the GM that authority.
Real estate staff explained the change responds to audit recommendations and would relieve staff from processing very small annual adjustments (for example, $1–$2 increases) on low-rent agreements. Staff clarified that the waivers referenced in this motion do not apply to the Southeast Treatment Plant arrangements mentioned earlier in public comment.
Commissioners asked whether small sums could instead be collected every five years; staff said such a change would still require commission authorization and either amendments to each lease or a blanket resolution. The motion passed after public comment.
