SFPUC approves multiple contracts and land purchase, awards pipeline and dam work

Highlights included awarding the Samuquine Pipeline western segment contract to Mountain Cascade Inc. for $48,706,379 and awarding Lower Crystal Springs Dam improvements to Keywood Infrastructure West for $70,360,400; both bids came in materially under engineering estimates and met HRC goals. The commission also approved contract modifications and capital projects necessary for the Water System Improvement Program and adopted the related mitigated negative declaration where required under CEQA.
The PUC approved purchase of approximately 160 acres of agricultural land in Alameda County (Assessor's Parcel 096-0420-005) for $800,000 to improve water quality, supply reliability and the commission's land management capacity. Commissioners praised staff for competitive bidding results and progress on capital work.
Several motions to authorize memoranda of understanding and small watershed agreements were also approved on the consent calendar.
