PUC accepts donation of three EV chargers for two-year pilot and approves construction-management contracts

On Item 13 commissioners approved acceptance of a donation from Coulomb Technologies of three electric-vehicle charging stations and a two-year license to associated software for a pilot program. Barbara Hale (Assistant General Manager for Power) said the pilot will be run with city partners — City CarShare, Zipcar and the Department of the Environment — to collect charging-pattern, electric-consumption and greenhouse-gas data; the pilot units are currently installed at City Hall Plaza and staff said the city may purchase the stations after the two-year pilot period.
On procurement, the commission approved a $16,000,000 agreement with CH2M Hill (Item 14) for Sonoma Valley construction management and separately awarded a construction contract (WD2556) for valve improvements on the Peninsula (Item 15) after receiving competitive bids well under engineer estimates. Julie Labonte outlined program controls, noted the need to condition Centimeters/CM services on CEQA and project approvals and reiterated the commission will be notified when staff executes major contracting steps.
