Ace Washington urged the commission to revive a Western‑Edition African American police relationship board and asked commissioners to meet with Northern Station leadership to strengthen local ties; he warned of planned civil‑disobedience actions if community concerns are not addressed but said he would notify Northern Station.
Valerie Butler described incidents she said amounted to police overreach and mistreatment of youth, and she asked the commission to look into recent actions that resulted in two youths being taken to a youth guidance center.
Other members of the public urged a full accounting of documents released in recent court discovery, cited case‑dismissal concerns tied to the crime lab, and asked for clearer race and repeat‑offender breakdowns in crime and OCC reporting. Commissioners and staff acknowledged the requests and said some matters would be addressed in further reports or in closed session where appropriate.
