SFPUC approves consent items, MOUs and consultant selections including oak-tree MOU and CS883 awards

Highlights of approved items included authorization for the general manager to finalize and execute a memorandum of understanding with the U.S. Forest Service related to oak trees; an MOU between the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission and the City and County of San Francisco to provide funding for payment of certificates of participation tied to construction at 525 Golden Gate Avenue; award of on‑site document-scanning services to support records digitization and litigation retrieval; selection of multiple consultant teams (ESA RMC Water and Environment, URS, Wencesler and Kelly Consulting Engineers) under a set of WESIP-funded wastewater CIP agreements (CS883 a–d); and approval of Amendment No. 2 to Agreement CS730 for specialized design and geotechnical services to cover additional construction-support and groundwater geotechnical work identified during environmental review.
Questions at the meeting probed contract cost increases and the need for additional geotechnical and groundwater monitoring work; staff explained that some design services for construction support and new regulatory requirements were not included in original contracts and therefore required supplemental funding. There was no public comment on these items. All motions were approved by voice vote.
What’s next: Staff will proceed with contract execution and scope activities, carry out the required environmental review steps where noted, and continue internal project management oversight.
