The commission approved several routine items on the agenda. By unanimous consent the chief's request to retroactively accept and expend a $1,000,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services for expansion of a gunshot-location system was moved and adopted. There was no public comment on the grant.
Under administrative business the commission assigned a disciplinary appeal (case ALWD09-158) for evidentiary hearing and announced a community meeting in the Bayview/Portola neighborhood on Wednesday, March 31 at 6 p.m., to be held at the Lutheran church at 465 Woolsey Street (Woolsey and Somerset). Commissioners discussed the need for interpreters for Cantonese- and Mandarin-speaking residents and the lieutenant said he would coordinate interpreters that comply with contract and administrative-code requirements.
The commission later voted to convene closed session for disciplinary matters pursuant to the listed government-code exceptions and adjourned following that session; no contested final actions appeared on the public record at the meeting's close.
