PUC honors Adam Werbach as he departs commission

The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission adopted a resolution on Aug. 14 honoring Adam Werbach for his nearly four years of service and his environmental advocacy.
The resolution recounted Werbach's environmental leadership and public service since his appointment in November 2003. Werbach used his farewell remarks to reflect on his tenure: he described efforts to improve water bill clarity, enact fair and equitable rates that encourage conservation, get the water system improvement plan back on track, create a $50,000,000 land acquisition fund to protect watershed lands, and advance solar programs. He also said he had worked to shutter the Hunters Point power plant and voiced regret about decisions to move forward with new fossil fuel plants in parts of the city.
"I love this city with all my heart, and I have been blessed to have a chance to serve it," Werbach said in his remarks. Commissioners and members of the public thanked Werbach for his service and arranged a photograph and presentation to mark the occasion.
The commission also asked that Werbach's farewell remarks be included in the official record. No formal action beyond the resolution was required; the commission passed the resolution and hosted brief public comment in support of Werbach.
