Ingleside resident Iris Lett honored for helping apprehend robbery suspects

Captain David Lazard described the incident: two youths were attacked near Balboa High School and a suspect grabbed a victim's cellphone. "Miss Lett jumps out of her car, runs up to the second suspect and puts her in a bear hug and detains her for the police," Lazard said. He said Lett stayed for officers, completed a statement and helped identify suspects, leading to arrests.
Chief George Gascon signed the written award in appreciation for Lett's "quick and decisive and selfless action" and the commission thanked her during the meeting. The commission also noted the award presentation at the start of the agenda.
