Hicks reported case and mediation activity for the year and said the OCC has sustained a number of complaints and is carrying a pending caseload. When commissioners asked about expanding mediation eligibility categories, Hicks said the OCC will assign a Hastings Law School intern to review mediation rules and regulations and specifically to examine criteria that currently make some officers ineligible for mediation when they have a certain number of complaints in a given period.
The commission did not vote on OCC policy changes at the meeting.
