The Police Commission on Aug. 5 approved a resolution to request Board of Supervisors approval to accept and expend $40,000 donated by supporters of the SFPD Wilderness Adventure youth program to purchase two passenger vans.
Officer Mike Rivera described the need: the department currently has two 15-passenger vans and one unserviceable 12-passenger van; acquiring two 8-passenger vans would allow the program to meet school-district transportation requirements and resume transporting students for wilderness trips.
Commissioners moved and seconded the resolution and approved it "without objection." The resolution will be forwarded to the Board of Supervisors for acceptance and expenditure authorization.
