PUC approves GPA property insurance extension including cybersecurity coverage
Summary
The commission approved GPA’s request to exercise a contract option and extend its property insurance with AM Insurance into 2025, a package that includes added cybersecurity coverage; the ALJ found the extension prudent given timing and protest risks for a new solicitation.

The PUC approved GPA’s request to exercise the option period of its property insurance contract with AM Insurance for coverage beginning Jan. 1, 2025, and approved an interim extension that covered the period to Dec. 31, 2024. Legal counsel (Anthony) recommended approval after reviewing the contract review protocol and recent CCU action.
Anthony told the commission the extension keeps GPA within its authorized contract review thresholds and that including the short extension made it administratively safer than pursuing an immediate new solicitation that could be delayed by protests. He noted the extended policy adds a cybersecurity component not present in the prior term.
Commissioners corrected a date in the draft order and then moved and unanimously approved the recommended order.
