Commission reviews OCC workplan and moves to closed session on officer discipline

Hicks asked the commission to appoint a commissioner or small committee to meet with her to finalize the performance plan; commissioners discussed timing and whether the plan should align with fiscal year performance measures. Separately, members of the public — including Captain Greg Corrales, Captain Gary Jimenez and Lieutenant Lima Lotiello — spoke during the public comment period on a disciplinary matter, asked the commission to consider mitigating circumstances and described the officer's prior service and trauma exposure.
The commission then voted to enter closed session to consider disciplinary charges pursuant to Government Code Section 54957 and Penal Code Section 832.7. After the closed session the commission voted to disclose the fact of the closed‑session discussion and adjourned the meeting in memory of Officer John Cook.
