Commission schedules community meeting and previews three policing studies

Commissioners used the reports portion of the March 19 meeting to announce upcoming public engagement and studies. Commissioner David Campos said the Police Academy will host a March 25, 10 a.m. training for academy cadets on tenants’ rights and invited commissioners, the chief and the OCC director to attend. The commission also announced a community meeting at the South Beach Harbor Master's Building (Pier 40A) at 6 p.m. on March 26 to hear public comment alongside Southern Station Captain Daniel McDonough.
Commission Vice President Joe Marshall said three studies—the Citrix surveillance camera study, the foot patrol study and a district boundary study—are being completed by the University of California, Berkeley and will be released for public review. The commission said the reports will be followed by hearings at the Board of Supervisors Public Safety Committee and commission hearings two days later; the commission committed to announcing hearing dates at least two weeks in advance.
These items were announcements and scheduling steps; no formal votes were taken on the studies or training during the meeting.
