Commissioners asked the chief to report back the following week on the status of suspects and whether charges have been filed by the DA; the chief agreed to provide an update and indicated that a fuller briefing could be scheduled for the district meeting.
The chief also described personnel and operational updates: recruitment and examination efforts yielded 150–200 applicants for entry-level testing and 31 lateral interviews, with additional classes planned in May and June; and three grants approved by the Board of Supervisors were intended to support methamphetamine enforcement and violence-prevention initiatives.
Separately, the chief discussed recent meetings with medicinal cannabis community representatives; the department will meet with a point person identified as Shona to clarify cross-designation, enforcement priorities and roles among police, the health department and community stakeholders.
The commission did not take immediate policy action but requested follow-up briefings on case outcomes, school resource officer collaboration after a Virginia incident and neighborhood crime mapping.
