"This commission should direct Eric to use that module," he said.
A remote commenter identified in the transcript as Mr. Menasche urged establishment of a Joint Conference Committee (JCC) for SFHN oversight and challenged DPH—s use of state data sources to count freestanding skilled nursing facility (SNF) beds. He said his own review of state licensing data produced a count of 980 freestanding SNF beds, 152 fewer than a 2022 HCAI table that DPH cited, and he urged Laguna Honda to submit a waiver to preserve 120 beds.
Commissioners did not take immediate action on these specific requests during the meeting; public commenters requested follow-up and records. The commission and staff previously discussed Laguna Honda admissions and recertification in the Joint Conference Committee report included on the agenda.
