Roland Pickens, director and CEO sponsor for Laguna Honda Hospital, told the San Francisco Health Commission on June 18 that surveyors found zero deficiencies on recent validation visits and that the hospital is "awaiting final determination from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services on our recertification status, which we believe is imminent." He said Laguna Honda completed more than 1,000 action-plan milestones tied to root-cause analyses and achieved 100% completion on those milestones.
Pickens presented an 8-point sustainability and ongoing-improvement framework designed to transition the hospital from an incident-command structure to routine skilled-nursing operations.
