DPH says EPIC go-live is on track for Aug. 3; staff report training, devices and testing nearly complete

Winona Mindalovich and other DPH IT leaders briefed commissioners on the departments EPIC electronic health record implementation, saying the project is on schedule for an Aug. 3 go-live. Mindalovich reported roughly 4,565 of 4,755 devices had been rolled out, that staff ran more than 44,000 test scripts and completed 97,000 e-learning modules; as of July 8, 6,827 of 7,297 staff had finished prerequisite training.
Officials described a command-center plan for go-live with a hub-and-spoke model, 24/7 staffing for two weeks and patient-safety dashboards monitored during stabilization through December. DPH said they made 24,000 configuration changes, identified and corrected about 2,100 issues in testing, and planned a dry run to validate the August 3 timeline.
Commissioners asked for clarity on which clinical and cost metrics would be tracked and requested a report after go-live (September) presenting safety, clinical and financial KPIs and timetables for measuring benefits and productivity. Staff said hospitals and divisions have baseline dashboards configured in Epic and that DPH will provide post-live reporting and follow-up.
