Director Garcia told the commission that on April 11 the San Francisco Board of Supervisors enacted a resolution charging the Department of Public Health with convening a task force to develop recommendations on the operation of supervised consumption services.
Garcia said the department will assemble a diverse 15-member group to examine opportunities, obstacles, community need and feasibility, and that the task force will hold public meetings to solicit input. The department is required to submit a report to the mayor and the Board of Supervisors within three months of its convening; Garcia said she is finalizing membership and will share meeting dates with commissioners when they are set.
No public comment was recorded for the director's report at the meeting. Commissioners asked about scheduling and Garcia said she would send meeting dates and membership details once finalized.
